Melville Rams turn Pink and Blue in May Mon, May 20, 2019 - 4:15 PM

The Melville Rams have had a busy month with two club events held on the 4th and 18th of May.

Their first event on Saturday 4 May was a fundraising event for breast cancer with the league side wearing specially designed pink guernsey’s. The fundraiser coincided with the club’s ladies’ day and raised $3200 for charity.

The second event just two weeks later raised awareness of mental health within the club. The event was held on the Perth Football League’s ‘Men’s Health Round’ with the league side switching their usual green and gold guernsey this time for blue.

The club organised a past player to speak at Thursday night selections to share his personal experience with mental health issues in his own life and his family and friends. The club said the speech had quite an impact on the playing group. The club also shared some facts on mental health and put information flyers around the club to reinforce the importance of talking to someone if you are experiencing mental health issues.

It was the first time the club had held a round which raised awareness of mental health and aim to make it an annual event from here on in.
