Swan Districts will become the first WAFL club to field a team in the Integrated competition which promotes the inclusion and participation of players with an intellectual disability.

The Swans will wear the famous black and white stripes and play and train at Steel Blue Oval.

Swan Districts President Peter Hodyl said it is a momentous occasion in the history of the Swan Districts Football Club.

“We are the first team in the WAFL and likely to be the first across all of Australia’s state leagues to provide the opportunity for people to play integrated football,” Hodyl said.

Swan Districts Head of Social Impact Matt Hewitson shared that the launch of the new team was a culmination of a lot of hard work over many years by the Swans Disability, Access and Inclusion Committee who focus on creating a sense of belonging and inclusion for people with disability.
