FINALS ELIGIBILITY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A player must play at least three (3) qualifying matches over three qualifying rounds of fixtures for his club in the current season for Men & Women. A player is permitted to play in any higher grade final.

Fly In / Fly Out Employment/WAFL Dual Registrations.

These players will be eligible to play in final round matches in both competitions providing they satisfy the qualifying number of games in each.
(Must have played minimum WAAFL qualification of three (3) matches over three qualifying rounds of fixtures.)


Played 2 games in League, 1 in Reserves and 1 in Thirds. Do I qualify?
Yes, but can only play League as this is the highest grade in which they have played. (League)

Played 2 games in League, 1 in Reserves and 1 in Thirds. Club has all 3 grades in finals. Which grade can player play?
The player can only play League, Irrespective if teams are playing on the same day.

Played 2 games in League, 1 in Reserves and 1 in Thirds. Club has Reserve s and Thirds in finals. Can player play in finals?
No, as highest grade played is League which makes them ineligible to play reserves or thirds.

Played 2 games in League, 1 in Reserves and 1 in Thirds. League loses week 1 of finals. Can player continue to play finals?
No, as League was the highest grade in which they could play, player can no longer participate in finals.

Played 3 games in League and 2 in Reserves. We are both in finals. Can I play Reserves if not selected in League?
Yes but only if League and Reserves play on the same day. If League are knocked out then the player will not be able to play in Reserves because they qualified in the higher grade.

If a player has played 2 games in League and 6 in Reserves is that player eligible to play finals for either League or Reserves?
Yes, because they have played the required 3 games in the lower grade to qualify. If the League side is knocked out the player is still eligible to play Reserves.


Player has qualified to play Reserves in finals. Club has League, Reserves, Thirds and Fourths in finals. Player is not selected for League or Reserves. Can I play either Thirds or Fourths?
Where a club has more than one team playing in finals on the same day a player from a higher grade can only play in the next lowest grade. Player can only play Thirds.


Can players that have played 3 games in Colts and 3 in League play a League final?
Yes.


Are they eligible to play a colt’s final the following week if not selected for League?
Yes, because they played the required 3 games to qualify for colts.

If League is eliminated but Colts are still going can they play Colts finals if they have played League finals?
Yes, because they played the 3 games to qualify for colts.


Played 3 colts games, can I play up?
Yes, but can only play in the highest grade that a club has. (You can only go up to League or Reserves. They cannot play in a lower grade irrespective if teams are playing in finals on the day.)


I have played in a League Final. This team has now been eliminated, can I now play in a lower grade.
You are permitted to play in a lower grade final as long as you have played 3 qualifying matches in that lower grade.

A player has qualified to play in Phil Scott colts. Can he play in the lower Brett Jones Colts?
Yes, if teams are playing on the same day he can play for the clubs next lowest Colts grade. However, were the Colts teams are not playing on the same day a Colts player must have played 3 qualifying matches in the lower grade Colts team.


A colt’s player plays 2 games in Phil Scott Division and 2 games Brett Jones Division. Can they play finals.
Yes but only in the Phil Scott Division, as this is the highest grade in which he has played.

 

NOTE: A Colts player can only play in one “COLTS” division Grand Final.
