On Wednesday 16 September the Perth Football League held their annual Medal Presentation Night.

While the night usually consists of 900 guests filling the Crown Ballroom, the 2020 edition was held for the first time completely online.

North Beach’s Joseph Deegan took out the nights top award with the CJ Jamieson Medal as the A Grade’s Best and Fairest player for 2020.

In what was a short season, Deegan polled in five games across nine rounds with two best on ground performances to finish on ten votes. The former Sorrento-Duncraig junior, played State Amateur colts in 2017 and is the first CJ Jamieson medallist from North Beach since Thomas McNeil in 2002.

Deegan finished just one vote ahead of the pack with Kyle Cranley (North Beach), Kyle Halligan (Kingsway) and Jarrod Parry (Curtin Uni Wesley) all finishing on nine votes.

Ballajura’s Nicholas Mirco took out the TR Howard Medal for the first time as the B Grade Best & Fairest. Mirco has played 106 games for Ballajura and finished sixth in last year’s medal count. He polled five votes clear of second placed Christopher Keunen (Whitford) and Jake Nuich (Swan Athletic).

Collegians James Carrigg claimed the highest colts honour to win his first NK Donaldson Medal as the Phil Scott Colts best player. Carrigg polled 13 votes across five games including four best on ground performances to finish two votes ahead of Curtin Uni Wesley’s Dylan Ralph.

After her Grand Final best on ground performance a couple of weeks ago, Curtin Uni Wesley’s Liusaidh Gilchrist took out the Women’s A Grade fairest and best.

Gilchrist polled in five out of seven matches including four best on grounds and adds another accolade to go with her two A Grade premiership medallions.

Clair Edwards kicked 14 goals for the season to be crowned the Women’s A Grade’s leading goal kicker for the second time while Jack Perham (North Fremantle) and Scott Worthington (Scarborough) took out the A Grade leading goal kickers with 27 goals.

Congratulates to all our winners as we conclude another season of amateur football.
