Coward Punch Campaign Partners with the PFL Fri, June 17, 2022 - 8:25 AM

The charity started by West Australian boxing legend Danny Green dedicated to eradicating the 'coward punch' has partnered with the Perth Football League for the next three years.

The partnership was announced at the Perth Football League's Business Lunch by Coward Punch Campaign Chairman and former West Coast Amateur Football Club player Justin Manolikos.

"The Perth Football League's network of players is the perfect vehicle for us to spread awareness about the devastating effects the coward punch has on the community," Manolikos said.

In 2023, the Perth Football League will be introducing mandatory Coward Punch training modules for all players who are found guilty of striking prior to them returning to play.

"It's great to see organisations like the Coward Punch Campaign recognise the opportunity to educate our community through the Perth Football League's network of players," said PFL President Sam Birmingham.

The Coward Punch Campaign will be this year's official finals series partner and will move into awareness and training modules in 2023 and 2024.

"The Stop the Coward Punch Campaign is a long-term vision. We are on a mission to eliminate the coward punch from society and save lives in the process. Our intent is to remove the “king hit” term permanently and have it consistently referred to as a “coward punch” – because that's exactly what it is," said Danny Green.
