2026 EGT Colts Season Preview

The 2026 Electrical Group Training (EGT) Colts’ season arrives with significant change across all divisions, as dominant 2025 sides move on and new structures reshape the landscape. The competition continues to improve in terms of quality on the field, with a commitment from clubs across Perth to developing some of the best prospects in WA footy. 63 teams are set to play across the PFL’s well-established 6 Colts league as well as the new D-Colts league.

The introduction of the D-Colts division marks a significant expansion of the Colts’ structure in 2026, designed to better accommodate clubs and support player development across the league, providing additional pathways for developing players to continue playing quality footy.

Featuring established programs such as Trinity Aquinas, University, Fremantle CBC, North Beach, Ocean Ridge and North Fremantle, the competition provides an opportunity for clubs to expand the scope of their program while providing emerging players with consistent opportunities.

EGT Phil Scott

The EGT Phill Scott League remains the benchmark for Colts football, with half of the sides good enough to win the premiership. Fremantle CBC enters off the back of a commanding 2025, winning the first top-flight colts premiership in the club’s history, overturning a University side that had been the competition’s standout across the home-and-away season. It seems like CBC is back on form, coming off a bigger preseason than most after beating the top colt side in the Victorian league in Melbourne.

Ocean Ridge and Trinity Aquinas both built strong cases as genuine contenders in 2025 and remain firmly in the finals conversation, while Scarborough’s finals run suggests they can challenge the top tier. Curtin Uni Wesley will hope to reestablish their dominance in the league after a rocky 2025 season where they fell behind the top sides but still put up good performances similar to North Beach. Kingsway have remained in the league despite a difficult season, finishing bottom without a win all season. Whitfords and North Fremantle have gone down to be replaced by Drew Banfield premiers Mount Lawley and Baldivis, who put up big performances against top opponents.

EGT Drew Banfield

The Drew Banfield Colts enter 2026 as one of the more evenly poised competitions following significant movement at both ends of the ladder. With top sides from 2025, including reigning premiers Mount Lawley and Baldivis, moving out of the grade. Minor premiers Wanneroo have stepped down to the Ian Dargie comp, with 8th place Wembley also moving down. Ocean Ridge to the D colts after a winless 2025 season. The competition has been reset, removing a clear benchmark and opening the door for a broader premiership race.

In their place, the competition welcomes a mix of relegated and regraded sides, like Whitford and North Fremantle. After not fielding a side in 2025, Brentwood Booragoon return with Ian Dargie premiers Kalamunda, adding new dynamics to the competition. Swan Athletic, Cockburn Lakes, and Collegians will look to make the most of the opening for top spot after showing they were capable of top-class performances last season.

EGT Brett Jones

The EGT Brett Jones league has gone through the biggest change, with 9 out of the 10 sides moving out of the league, leaving only Kenwick from the 2025 season. With 5 sides moving to the new D Colts. A wave of new and returning sides in 2026, following a near-complete overhaul of the competition. Ellenbrook, Roleystone and Rossmoyne, Scarborough headline the fresh intake, joined by High Wycombe, Wanneroo, Warnbro and Willetton, as the division is rebuilt. Due to the complete rebuild competition lacks an established benchmark heading into Round 1; in fact, Roleystone are the only side on this year’s ladder to win the Brett Jones premiership in this league back in 2021.

EGT Ian Dargie

The Ian Dargie Colts enter 2026 with a significantly reshaped field, as last season’s outstanding Kalamunda side moves out of the competition following an unbeaten premiership campaign. Unlike many of the Colts leagues this season, the Ian Dargie league remains relatively unchanged. The returning Kwinana, Hamersley, Carine and Jandakot showed the ability to compete consistently throughout 2025.

New inclusions and regraded sides add further depth, with Wanneroo entering the competition after a strong season in Drew Banfield, and Wembley after a difficult campaign. Cockburn Cobras and Forrestdale also feature, contributing to a more balanced and unpredictable competition.

EGT Laurie Keene

The Laurie Keene Colts enter 2026 with a reshaped competition following movement at both ends of the ladder, creating a more balanced and open field. Top end depatures of 2024, premiers Quinns District to Ian Dargie, further opening the premiership race.

Among the returning sides are Kingsley, who remained undefeated till the grand final, losing out to Piara Waters, who will also remain in the league. Third-place Manning will also stay in the league, adding to the already established quality. The inclusion of Gosnells, dropping in after a strong Ian Dargie campaign, adds proven competitiveness, while clubs such as Curtin Uni Wesley, Hammond Park and Swan View bring fresh dynamics into the grade.

EGT West Coast

The EGT West Coast League keeps the Swan Athletic bringing strong recent form, while Yanchep and Safety Bay remain after competitive but inconsistent campaigns. Kingsley and Baldivis also feature, both looking to improve after difficult 2025 seasons.

The West Coast Colts have been significantly reduced from 16 teams to nine in 2026, with clubs redistributed across higher grades, including Brett Jones and Laurie Keene, while Coolbellup and Coolbinia won’t play a colt’s side for 2026. North Mandurah and Dianella Morley will field a completely new Colts side after a hiatus. Yanchep and Safety Bay remain after competitive but 2025 campaigns. Kingsley and Baldivis also feature, both looking to improve after difficult 2025 seasons.
