A Ripper of a Victory

MANNING Rippers have kept hopes of a minor premiership alive with a victory over Ballajura in a C3 Grade contest at James Miller Oval.

Led by full forward Ash Bentley, Manning overcame a first quarter deficit to run out eventual 40 point winners. The full forward booted 11 goals to single-handedly propel Manning to a 16.13 (109) to 10.9 (69) win.

Ballajura led by three goals at the first break before Bentley led a comeback to even the scores at the long break. In the second half it was all Manning with defenders Chris Stewart, Dan Evans and Dave Phillipkowski repelling Ballajura attacks to lead the Rippers to victory.

In the reserves the story was much the same with the Rippers continuing their push for a finals berth, defeating Ballajura 11.12 (78) to 7.5 (47).

It wasn’t all bad news for Ballajura however, with the second placed Ballajura Colts defeating Manning Colts 15.9 (99) to 13.11 (89) in a possible finals preview.
