Budget Car and Truck Rental A Grade Men

It came down to the final kick of the game, but Kingsway overcame a 27-point quarter-time deficit to end University’s season in Saturday’s cutthroat final at UWA Sports Park.

Staring down elimination after a scoreless first term, the Roos responded in force, storming home with six of the last eight goals to claim a gutsy win 10.8 (68) to 11.6 (72).

University had the chance to cancel out a Tahj Mibus major which saw Kingsway hit the front with just minutes to play, but forward Henry Alforque’s last gasp set shot drifted wide, with the siren sounding shortly after.

Welcoming star midfielder Jye Bolton (23 disposals) for the must-win game, University came out firing with 22 inside 50s for the first term compared to their opponent’s three, and appeared set to move on into next week.

But Roos forward Tyler Senge proved to be the difference between the two sides, slotting four majors for the day, while teammate Lachlan Vanirsen led all comers with 31 touches in the middle to lift Kingsway back into the contest.

Ryan Hudson kicked three goals for Uni, including the first major of the last quarter, pushing the margin to 23 points, but the Roos would run rampant for the remainder of the term to steal the win.

The next opponents put in front of Kingsway will be Curtin Uni Wesley after the Tigers lost to Fremantle C.B.C in Saturday’s qualifying final.

The premiership quarter was crucial at Morris Buzacott Reserve, with C.B.C overturning a halftime deficit to run away with an eight-point win, 10.9 (69) to 9.7 (61).

C.B.C outscored Curtin Uni Wesley four goals to one in the third term, with midfielder Matt Ward dominating the quarter with ten disposals.

Tom Wright was also important as his side wrestled control of the game, finishing the day with 23 disposals and nine tackles.

Tigers star Kade Stewart (16 disposals and a goal) topped his side’s ranking points with 97.

Curtin Uni Wesley will host Kingsway on Saturday in a replay of last season’s 2nd Semi Final, while minor premiers North Beach will host Fremantle C.B.C for a spot in this year’s grand final.

After being held goalless against the same opposition a week prior, Trinity Aquinas turned the equation in Saturday’s Qualifying Final against University. 

Keeping their opponents to just four behinds, the Boomers won 3.10 (28) to 0.4 (4) after both teams entered halftime without a major.

Trinity Aquinas broke free from the first half’s contested slog through the class of Mikenna Schultz (23 disposals, 8 tackles) and Abbey Waddell (20 disposals).

Helen Taylor was Uni’s best in their defeat with 24 disposals and 101 ranking points.

University defeated Trinity Aquinas last week by 14 points in a game which saw the Boomers lose grasp of the minor premiership on the final day of the home-and-away season.

Having avenged their setback against Uni, TAs will now face minor premiers Curtin Uni Wesley with a grand final spot on the line, while University will take on Wembley in an elimination first semi-final following their elimination final victory over North Fremantle.

A three-goal third term set up a comfortable lead at the final break for the home side as they emerged winners 7.6 (48) to 3.3 (21).

North Fremantle had more of the footy than their opponents but couldn’t make their possession count on the scoreboard, having only three marks inside 50 compared to their opponent’s nine as forward Mia Jackson kicked four majors for Wembley.

The ruck was closely contested all day between Wembley’s Parris Laurie and North Fremantle’s Linda Armannsson, the former narrowly edging out the latter in hitouts 30 to 22.

Ella Ward was one of North Fremantle’s best with 22 disposals and a game-high 111 ranking points

Ward also chipped in to help Armannsson in the ruck with eight hitouts.

Wembley narrowly edged out their upcoming opponents, University, by two points in their last encounter in a low-scoring thriller at UWA Sports Park, a feat they will need to repeat if they are to continue in season 2026.

If there’s one thing Whitford’s B Grade side knows how to do, it is win, and the Warriors continued their dominance in 2026 with a 50-point victory over North Fremantle that propels them into this season’s grand final.

A triumph that also sends them into A Grade for next year, Whitford celebrated their return to the PFL’s top flight in 2027 with a five-goal final quarter romp to finish 13.9 (87) to 5.7 (37) victors.

Former Subiaco forward Max Walters kicked four for the home side.

Despite welcoming back former South Fremantle captain Dylan Main in the past fortnight, North Fremantle had little to sing about in the loss, with leading goalscorer John Sgherza being held goalless.

Ruckman Josh Branchi was one of the Magpies’ best, kicking two goals.

North Fremantle will face Brentwood Booragon for the third time in four weeks in Saturday’s preliminary final as the Bulldogs ended Cockburn Lakes’ season by 22 points at Karoonda Reserve.

Erick Bashemule and Parker Doncon kicked two goals each for Brentwood Booragon, while Lachlan Johnson led the way with three majors for the Warriors in their defeat.

Despite the loss, it was a season of improvement for Cockburn Lakes, the 2024 C1 Grand Finalists rising to finals after an 8th place finish last season.

With the final spot in the Grand Final on the line, the Bulldogs will need to defeat a Magpies side they have lost to on all three occasions this season.

North Fremantle have not lost at Gil Fraser Reserve since round three, winning all their other 10 home matches since their ANZAC Day defeat to Whitford.

The Warriors will face the preliminary final victor at HIF Health Insurance Oval in this season’s grand final.

Wembley ended minor premiers Wanneroo’s 18-game unbeaten run in stunning fashion, with the Magpies piling on 11 unanswered first-half goals to secure a comfortable 39-point victory in their second semi-final clash. 

The 14.6 (90) to 7.9 (51) upset win at Wanneroo Showgrounds booked the visitors a return ticket to B Grade and the first spot in this season’s C1 decider in two weeks.

Having lost to the Roos on both occasions during the home-and-away season, Wembley rocketed out of the blocks with seven first-term goals to nearly put the game to bed at quarter time, five coming from spearhead Josh Richards.

Richards’ final bag of seven brought his season tally of majors to 90, the Roos having little answer for the forward’s cunning evasiveness.

The defeat was a shock for Wanneroo, coming off a week’s rest against a sharp Magpies outfit that look to have gone to another level in this year’s finals, having also easily accounted for Hamersley Carine in their Qualifying Final by 95 points the week prior.

The Hawks bounced back from last week’s heavy defeat to Wembley, keeping their season alive with a 28-point victory over Thornlie at a breezy Beach Oval.

In a match that was an arm wrestle for three quarters, Hamersley Carine found an extra edge in the last quarter, kicking the final four goals to win 11.11 (77) to 7.7 (49).

A Cooper Smith bomb from fifty metres just seconds from the three-quarter-time siren brought the margin to just three points, but the Hawks drew first blood in the last through a classy finish from the pocket by captain Nic Mayo, and did not look back from there.

Liam Cunningham was a standout for the Hawks in the midfield, and was key in his side’s early dominance through the corridor as they looked to chip the ball into attack.

Cunningham and veteran Andrew Vawser provided exceptional service to forwards Brayden Jones (3 goals) and rangy debutant Zed Rowbotham (2 goals) as Hamersley Carine ground out the win against a physical opponent.

Cameron Hall put on a defensive intercept-marking clinic for the Thornlie, while brother Michael was a handful for the Hawks defenders up the other end, booting three goals in the defeat.

Wanneroo will take on Hamersley Carine on Saturday in the Preliminary Final at Wanneroo Showgrounds.
