They might have needed overtime to get there, but Scarborough’s dreams of an unbeaten season were realised with a nail-biting five-point win over Bullcreek Leeming at HIF Health Insurance Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Despite being heavily tackled, Scarborough forward Laura Hough managed to get boot to ball in the goal square to put through the eventual winner in the first period of overtime, giving her side a memorable 4.3 (27) to 3.4 (22) victory.

The ball was deep inside Bullcreek Leeming’s fifty in the dying seconds, but desperate pressure from the minor premiers kept the Bombers from finding the major opening.

Scarborough’s Kyra Dalman was named best on ground, capping off an exquisite debut season in the green and gold after arriving at the club this season from Victoria.

A Jenelle Heard major with seconds to go in the fourth kept the Bombers alive, sending the game into extra time.

It was the only goal of the final term, cancelling out Scarborough’s major in the third, putting the minor premiers ahead after scores were deadlocked at the half.

A victory for Bullcreek Leeming would have capped off a finals golden run for the Bombers, who finished fourth and had to defeat Ocean Ridge, Swan Athletic and Kwinana to qualify for the decider.

University got their taste of revenge after going to North Fremantle in last season’s grand final, beating the Magpies by 24 points to cap off a dominant season by the minor premiers.

Uni star forward Ashlee Hardisty was best afield, the competition best-and-fairest slotting all six of her side’s majors in the 6.2 (38) to 2.2 (14) win.

Uni broke free from the first-half arm wrestle, extending their goal lead at half-time to 30 points after Hardisty dialed her brilliance up in the premiership quarter, kicking four goals in the term with a mixture of set shots and clinical finishes on the run.

North Fremantle had no answers for University’s aerial prowess which had propelled them to the minor premiership and a season record of 14-2.

A game pencilled in as their coronation day for weeks, Bayswater claimed their second straight premiership over rivals Kingsway with a dominant 11.9 (75) to 1.3 (9) win in the C1 decider at Gosnells Oval.

It means the dominant Blues senior side have now won 35 of their past 36 matches after they finished the 2025 season undefeated.

A switched-on Bayswater ensured there was not even a sniff of an upset, controlling possession and territory to take a commanding 26-point lead at quarter time.

Zara Stewart made sure the game went to script, booting the first three goals in a matter of minutes to give her side a fast start.  

Stewart formed a dynamic combination with forwards Sophia Bishop and best on ground Chloe Sauzier, controlling the game in the air and also on the ground with sublime finishing.

Sauzier kicked four majors in the victory, narrowly outshining her fellow forwards who combined for nine of their eleven goals.

It was a tough day for Kingsway, who entered the halfway mark goalless and trailing by 45 points, but the Roos were given something to cheer about in the third term when Courtney Peoples gave them their first and only major of the match. 

It was their second successive grand final loss to the Blues.

Gosnells overturned their second semi-final defeat to Canning Vale to claim a thrilling three-point win over the Cougars on Saturday morning at HIF Health Insurance Oval.

The Hawks wrested control of the game after a slow start, piling on three consecutive goals in the second and third quarters to take the lead in what would prove to be the difference between the sides, winning 3.3 (21) to 1.12 (18). 

Gosnells’ Shawnie Pickett was named best on ground in the victory.

Hawks forward Talia Coyne showed poise and clean skills to put through two critical goals for her side.

Canning Vale will rue their inaccuracy, finishing their day with twelve behinds, the Cougars unable to find another goal after Courtney Forsyth put through the day’s first.

A ferocious start from Manning provided the Rippers enough buffer to seal an improbable premiership over the highly favoured Yanchep at Gosnells Oval.

The 4.8 (32) to 3.4 (22) was delivered off following a blistering opening term that saw the underdogs kick three unanswered majors, their ruthlessness at the contest and clean finishing up forward overwhelming the Redhawks.

A Qualifying Final setback against Safety Bay had put Manning on the brink of elimination, but the Rippers stunningly won their last three finals to claim a second successive premiership.

With captain Amber Goodwin-Wissink going down with a shoulder injury in the second quarter, Amelia Sherry stood up for the Rippers with dash from half back.

Sherry helped her side arrest a strong push from Yanchep in the third term in a performance that earned her best on-ground honours.

Fleet-footed duo Kate Poultney and Imogen Leahy were too speedy for the Redhawks to handle in attack, kicking a goal each in the first term.

Yanchep captain Tayah Nicholson helped fuel her side’s resistance in the premiership quarter with a strong attack on the football, as the minor premiers closed their deficit to just two points halfway through the third.

But the fightback proved futile, as they could not penetrate inside their 50 enough in the final quarter due to strong pressure from the desperate Rippers defenders.

Yanchep entered the decider hoping to claim their first women’s flag following a second semi-final win and a 15-1 home-and-away record.

Koongamia held off a relentless final-quarter surge from Bayswater to be crowned C4 champions by two points on Saturday morning at Gosnells Oval.

The thrilling 3.9 (27) to 4.1 (25) victory was the Crows’ second C4 title since 2023.

Pacy midfielder Leigha Martino was a clear standout for Koongamia and was named best afield in the win, providing extensive run and carry on the outside for her Crows throughout. 

After a poor start that saw them concede the first two goals in a matter of minutes, Bayswater fought hard to gain control of the match, levelling the scores at the half by lifting their pressure to close in on their evasive opposition.

The Blues were far more efficient going inside 50 than their counterparts in the first three quarters and dominated aerially. However, they could not find the major opening they needed in the dying minutes of the frantic final quarter.

A third-quarter Tamara Reynolds major streaming into open goal for Bayswater was the final one scored of the match as the sides played out a scoreless final term, the Crows narrowly claiming the spoils.

Back-to-back flags for North Beach just got a step closer.

The minor premiers became the first side to book their ticket to this year’s A Grade decider, defeating Fremantle C.B.C by 24 points at Charles Riley Reserve in Saturday’s second semi-final.

The 9.13 (67) to 6.8 (44) win was set up by a ruthless first term as the fired-up Tigers slotted five unanswered goals to take an authoritative 32-point lead at the first break.

Former Essendon and Fremantle ruck Zac Clarke controlled the game for North Beach at ball-ups, finishing the day with 43 hitouts.

Backman Chris Ah Siu was kept busy all day by relentless attacking from the Tigers, who won the inside 50 count 46-24. 

The defender had eighteen defensive rebounds for C.B.C and 141 ranking points.

C.B.C will have to regroup and bounce back in this week’s preliminary final against a red-hot Kingsway who have won seven of their past eight games.

The 5th-placed Roos upset last season’s grand finalists Curtin Uni Wesley in Saturday’s first semi-final to send the Tigers packing from the finals in straight sets, winning 13.6 (84) to 7.15 (57).

Kingsway came out of the gate hot in enemy territory, kicking seven goals in the first quarter, with Braydn Furmark kicking three of his five majors of the day.

Furmark combined electrically with Blake Morris up forward, who also booted four goals.

Curtin Uni Wesley struggled to make the most of their attack, finishing with more scoring shots, disposals, inside 50s and clearances than their opposition but still losing by 27 points.

CJ Jamieson Medalist Kyle Hamersley (141 ranking points) and Kade Stewart (26 disposals and three goals) fought hard for the Tigers as they attempted their comeback, but it wasn’t enough to keep Curtin Uni Wesley alive in season 2026.

Trinity Aquinas reasserted themselves as premiership favourites in a statement second-semi final win over Curtin Uni Wesley at South Oval.

The Boomers scored the first eight goals of the game to win 1.2 (8) to 9.4 (58) to earn their place in next fortnight’s grand final.

Amy Trindade (24 disposals, 2 goals) and A Grade league best and fairest winner Nadia Pisano (101 ranking points) starred in the victory for TAs.

A premiership for Trinity Aquinas in a fortnight would be their fourth consecutive; since winning the C2 flag in 2023, the Boomers have claimed successive premierships in C1 and B.

In the elimination first semi final, University kept their season alive with a gutsy four-point victory over Wembley, winning 2.1 (13) to 1.3 (9).

No goals were scored in the first three quarters such was the contested battle between the two sides, but the game opened up in the last quarter, with all three of the game’s majors being kicked.

University’s Helen Taylor (23 disposals) and Tarnica Stewart (24 disposals) willed their side over the line in the close finish.

Wembley ruck Parris Laurie announced her retirement after the game, concluding a glittering Magpies career which saw her win four premierships and three league best and fairest awards.

Laurie ensured she went out with a bang in her last game, finishing with 157 ranking points and 55 hitouts in a performance that was nearly enough to drag her Magpies to victory.

Curtin Uni Wesley will host University in this weekend’s preliminary final.
