Life Without Barriers partner with Integrated Competition

Life Without Barriers have partnered with Perth Football League, as a major sponsor of Integrated Football – an exciting competition specifically for athletes with an intellectual disability, allowing them to showcase their Australian Rules Football skills and competitive spirit, and possibly kick start a few new careers! By joining forces, Life Without Barriers are aiming to grow the competition in the state and promote inclusion across all sports.

Life Without Barriers WA State Director, Jennie Burns, said it made sense that one of Australia’s leading social purpose organisations partners with a leader in the all-inclusive sport.

This new partnership is a great fit because Life Without Barriers shares Perth Football League’s passion for advancing inclusive sport and the belief that all participants should be able to access any sport, whatever sport they choose to do.

However, as Jennie explains, this is more than a traditional sponsorship.

“Our partnership provides a range of opportunities to grow and develop leaders in inclusive sport via sharing knowledge and expertise and providing players with opportunities to apply their abilities across sport.” Jennie said.

Perth Football League has been running the competition since 2009, and over time it has grown, with nine clubs in 2019: Fremantle CBC, Coolbinia, High Wycombe, Kingsway Mandurah, North Beach, Warnbro, Wembley and Willetton. Among the players are many of the people Life Without Barriers supports, and among the crowds are many of Life without Barriers staff, cheering them on with gusto.

Life Without Barriers look forward to the continued growth of this inclusive league and providing assistance and advice to players and their families as they transition to the NDIS.
