Match of the Week – Quinns v Kelmscott

This weeks’ Key Start Home Loans Match of the Week is the D Black blockbuster between second placed Quinns District and WAAFL newcomers Kelmscott.

The day shapes up as one of the best of the year with three season defining games set to take place for the Quinns District Amateur Football Club as they celebrate their 10th Anniversary.

For the first time since their inception into the WAAFL, Quinns looks to qualify their league, reserves and colts for the finals with all three sides sitting in the top 4 ahead of this super Saturday at the “Bull Ring”, Ridgewood Park.

After struggling for on and off field success over the past few years, Quinns fielded and maintained a colts side in 2008, a sign of good things to come as the rejuvenated club took the competitions by storm to set up a genuine premiership campaign. In a day of celebration it’s fitting things are kicked off by the Quinns Colts side who tackle Kingsley and try to consolidate their top 4 spot in the race to the finals.

The Quinns reserves are also in contention for the finals after years in the wilderness and tackle Kelmscott reserves in the lead up to the main event, top of the table clash.

Kelmscott has come into the WAAFL after being a successful WAFA and SFL team in the past decade and since their inception have continued down the same path, going undefeated so far in the season with an average winning margin of 95 points. The team closest to Kelmscott on the ladder is Quinns, also having a great season and looking for revenge after Kelmscott easily accounted for the Bulls the last time they met.

The weekend is a sign of Quinns’ arrival as a strong amateur football club and the perfect day to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

As well as the head lining matches the Quinns committee has organized a fantastic day for the whole family, with a bouncy castle for the children and drinks, football and an auction for the adults. After the match the Quinns Amateur Football Club invites all supporters to the Merriwa Tavern to celebrate a decade of the Quinns football club and what they hope to be a great win.

It takes a lot of effort to keep a football club running and running successfully and Quinns President Paul Grant was very thankful for the support he received from the committee and sponsors, The Merriwa Tavern, Good guys Clarkson, Surge Health Club and Sports First Clarkson for making the day, and past 10 (and future) 10 years possible.
