Match of the Week – Willetton V Mt Lawley

The Keystart Home Loans match of the week for round nine of the 2009 WAAFL season is the B grade match between Willetton and Mt Lawley at Burrendah Reserve.
Both league teams are coming into this Saturday’s game strongly, with the Blues 80 point winners over Bullcreek Leeming and the Hawks picking up a 68 point home win against Melville.
Willetton are sitting third, on a 6-2 record one game behind Wembley and Swan Athletic, while Mt Lawley are one game behind the Blues with five wins and three losses for the season.
The Blues’ only losses for the season have both come at home against the top two teams, in round three against Wembley by eight points and in round five to Swan Athletic by 11 points.
The Hawks do have a win against the second placed Swan Athletic, in round four at Fawell Park by an impressive 22 points. Their three losses this year have come against Wembley by 49 in round two, Swan View the following week by nine and Hamersley Carine by 15 in round five.
Mt Lawley is coming into round nine on a three game winning streak, with just one away loss for the season. Willetton’s two losses have both come at Burrendah Reserve however the Blues are also on a three match hot streak.
In the reserves both Willetton and Mt Lawley are sitting on five wins and three losses, with the Hawks sitting above the Blues at fourth on percentage.
Both reserves teams are coming off a successful round eight, with Mt Lawley defeating Melville by 55 point and Willetton beating Bullcreek Leeming by five.
The Hawks’ reserves have a 1-2 away record, with losses against Wembley in round two and Swan Athletic in round four, while the Blues are 2-2 at home, losing against Wembley in round three and Kingsley in round seven.
Mt Lawley is the third most successful club in the WAAFL with a total of 27 premierships including 8 A Grade League Premierships.
