Mt Lawley Vs Wembley

This week’s Key Start Home Loans Match of the Week is the B Grade match between ladder leaders Mt Lawley and Wembley.

Wembley will travel to Hamer Park this Saturday the 27th in hope of knocking off second place Mt Lawley and maintaining a two game break at the top of the ladder.

The day has become increasingly important for the Mt Lawley Amateur Football club with their league, reserves and colts sides still in contention for finals at the end of the season. The day kicks off with the Mt Lawley colts trying to move up from 5th on the ladder as they tackle Wembley chasing their first victory of the season in the Drew Banfield Colts. In the Reserves Mt Lawley is again in finals contention sitting 5th on the ladder and go into the match as underdogs against an undefeated Wembley outfit sitting 10 and 0 after the midway point of the season.

After falling agonizingly close to an A Grade berth last year, Mt Lawley will look to consolidate second place on the ladder and break away from the log jam of teams currently on 7 wins. If they lose they face the prospect of dropping to 5th on the ladder with Willetton, Swan Athletic and Hamersley Carine all hot on their heels but, a win could see them claim outright second heading into the business end of the season.

Wembley will be looking to cement their top spot on the ladder and prove they belong in the upper echelon after a disappointing 2008 campaign saw the Magpies dropped back to B Grade. Team Manager Dennis Day has labelled the match as one of the most important of the season, adding “the history between the two sides at Hamer Park always points to tough, physical games of footy”.

All games will take place at Hamer Park starting at 10:45am and could not be possible without support from Mt Lawley’s major sponsors Your Pet’s Vet, Devine Cellars and Elmars Brewing.
