Perth Football League v Victorian Amateur Football Association

The 2019 West Coast Eagles State Amateur Team take on the Victorian Amateur Football Association this Saturday 6 July at Fremantle Oval.

The 2019 team features players from 13 different clubs with only two players representing the Perth Football League last year in Melbourne.

Just 16 points separated the two sides when they met at Trevor Barker Oval in Victoria last July. The Perth Football League started strong but were run over in the second half with the VAFA kicking five goals to one. The Perth Football League move to an open age team this season after previously being U23’s only.

The team will be led by head coach John Watters who took on the state coaching role this season with a victory over the WA Country Football League in his first game.

Fremantle CBC’s David Roche will captain the side with Ballajura’s Jack Gare as Vice Captain. Head Coach John Watters said “David was a unanimous selection for state captain. He is well regarded and respected by his teammates and sets a solid example both on and off the field. David’s input in training and discussions has been valuable as he seeks to develop players to become their best”.

The match will be live on the Perth Football League, SportsEdge and Community News Facebook pages with bouncedown at 1.00pm.
