Premiers crowned and B-E Grade Grand Finals set over a massive weekend of PFL football

On one of the biggest days in the Perth Football League calendar, seven premiers were crowned in the Toyota Women’s Grades whilst 21 Grand Finals across the Men’s B-E Grades and EGT Colts have been set for this weekend.
The Toyota A Grade Women’s Grand Final saw Wembley secure their fourth flag in a row and back-to-back A Grade premierships with a solid win over Melville. Demonstrating their strength and experience, Wembley showcased a high level of skill and teamwork to dominate the match and claim the title once again. Wembley’s Parris Laurie was everywhere throughout the match to rightfully earn Best on Ground honours. Meanwhile, in the B Grade Women’s competition, Bullcreek Leeming charged to victory with an impressive performance against Baldivis, finishing strongly to seal their win. Best on Ground went to Brianna Cleggett from Bullcreek Leeming who simply willed her team over the line.
In the Toyota C1 Women, Trinity Aquinas pulled off a stunning upset against Scarborough, surprising fans with their tenacity and strategic play. TA’s own Montanna Godsell was adjusted Best on Ground in a solid performance. Kelmscott proved too powerful for Koongamia in the C2 Women Grand Final, showcasing their prowess with a commanding performance. Louise Knitter of Kelmscott worked hard all day and was rewarded with the Best on Ground Award. Over in the C3 Women Grand Final, Ballajura was in complete control against Fremantle CBC, demonstrating their superior form throughout the game. Ballajura’s Nyra Anderson was awarded Best on Ground. In a tough C4 Women Grand Final, Swan Valley kept Armadale goalless, running out comfortable winners. Caitlin Mann of Swan Valley was clearly the most influential player on the field, awarded Best on Ground.
The weekend also marked a historic moment with the first-ever Toyota A Reserves Women Grand Final. Curtin Uni Wesley held off North Fremantle in a tightly contested match, edging out their opponents in a thrilling finish to secure the inaugural title. The close nature of this match set the stage for an exciting future for the A Reserves Women competition, promising more fierce contests in the years to come. Curtin Uni Wesley were proud to see Saynab Bayahow win Best on Ground honours, who stamped her authority on the match early.
North Fremantle have secured the remaining spot in Toyota A Grade for 2025, with their 38-15 victory over Collegians. Leading the B Grade Preliminary Final quarter time, North Fremantle were able to keep Collegians to the solitary goal until the last quarter. If weren’t for errant kicking for goal, the margin could have blown out. The Toyota B Grade Grand Final will be held at Pentanet Stadium on 7th September 2024, and also on Streamer and can be found on SEN via the SEN app.
Swan Athletic joins Cockburn Lakes in the Toyota C1 Grand Final, and both clubs will jump to B Grade next year. Kalamunda will rue their inaccurate goal kicking but found themselves too far behind. The Toyota C1 Grand Final will be held at Steel Blue Oval, Bassendean.
Toyota C2 saw some incredibly accurate goal kicking with Gosnells and Piara Waters only kicking 6 behinds between them. It was Gosnells who proved too strong in the end, running out comfortable 30-point winners. Gosnells will now match up against Kwinana at Revo Fitness Stadium this Saturday afternoon.
Canning South Perth found themselves ahead at the major break, but quickly found out why North Beach have been so strong all year in the Toyota C3. North Beach piled on 7 goals while keep Canning South Perth to just the one to eventually sealing their 32-point win. North Beach now meets Forrestdale at Wanneroo Showgrounds in what will be close game between two well matched sides.
In what could be described as a boilover, Maddington have upset a Manning Rippers team that went undefeated through the Toyota C4 regular season. Maddington now look ahead to a match up against University and will be full of confidence. C4 Grand Finals will be played Wyong Reserve, home of Canning South Perth.
Kenwick had to do it the hard way in their Toyota C5 Men Preliminary Final against Coolbellup. Finding themselves 15 points behind at 3QT, the Royals kicked three goals to zero and sneak home by 4 points. Kelmscott awaits at Gosnells Recreation Ground on Saturday. A special mention to the Bayswater C5 Reserves who have won their way into their first grand final in many years.
In the E Grades, Armadale beat Yanchep to look ahead to Trinity Aquinas in the Toyota E1 Grand Final. Wembley have bested Ocean Ridge and now meet Swan Athletic in the E2 decider. Mosman Park were too good for Coolbinia and now take on Kingsway in the E3 North Grand Final. All three of these Grand Finals will be played at Richard Guelfi Reserve, home of the Stirling Football Club. In the E3 South Prelim, Warnbro knocked off Piara Waters and will now play Forrestdale at Gosnells Recreation Ground.
To cover the colts results, Wanneroo have gone through in the EGT Drew Banfield Colts and will play West Coast at Pentanet Stadium, while Swan Athletic will take on Jandakot in EGT Ian Dargie Colts at Steel Blue Oval. Quinns won their Prelim and look to a match up against Piara Waters in EGT Laurie Keene Colts at Revo Fitness Stadium. Coolbinia will take on Lynwood Ferndale in EGT West Coast Colts to be played at Wanneroo, and Curtin Uni Wesley won through to take on Trinity Aquinas in EGT Brett Jones Colts which will be at Wyong Reserve.
This weekend also marks the Toyota A Grade Men Preliminary Finals. At Kingsway Reserve, Kingsway will host Curtin Uni Wesley who knocked Fremantle CBC out in straight sets. Curtin Uni Wesley also sees their reserves in the Prelim, taking on North Beach while the EGT Phil Scott Colts will see North Beach match up against Scarborough.
