The match began at a slow pace, with both sides locked in a tight contest and struggling to find the scoreboard. The final quarter saw University finally take control. They opened with a behind before breaking through with their 2^nd goal of the match via Tylor McIntosh’s brilliance. Another behind soon followed, and while Baldivis fought to respond, they were unable to add to their tally. University sealed the win with 2 back-to-back behinds in the closing stages, capping off a determined victory.

University fought hard, and their determination paid off, earning them the Budget Car and Truck Rental A Grade Women premiership for 2025.

Budget Car and Truck Rental B Grade Women Grand Final

Trinity Aquinas and Hamersley Carine battled it out this past weekend in the Budget Car and Truck Rental B Grade Women Grand Final.

Trinity Aquinas came out firing in the opening quarter, registering 2 behinds within the first 2 minutes to set the tone early. They maintained their pressure throughout the quarter and slotted 2 consecutive goals, through the Schleicher sisters in Jessica and Mia, in the final 3 minutes to take control of the game.

The 2^nd quarter continued in the same fashion, with Hamersley Carine struggling to find a way onto the scoreboard. Trinity Aquinas kept the momentum in their favour, adding another 2 behinds to extend their lead. At halftime, they held an impressive 16-0 advantage.

Trinity Aquinas picked up where they left off, opening the 3^rd quarter with Jemma Mactaggart adding a third goal to TA’s lead. Hamersley Carine finally broke through soon after, with Julia Reid slotting their 1^st goal of the match to get on the board. The rest of the quarter slowed into a stalemate, broken only by a late Trinity behind.

The final quarter continued in the same fashion, with neither side able to find momentum for the first 8 minutes. Trinity Aquinas eventually broke the deadlock with their 4^th goal through Abbey Waddell, quickly adding a behind to keep the scoreboard ticking. Both teams fought hard in the closing stages, but no further points were scored, leaving Trinity Aquinas to claim a comfortable 24-point victory.

Trinity Aquinas took the win and became the Premiership Winners for 2025 in the Women’s B Grade. They will return next season, making their debut in A Grade.

Budget Car and Truck Rental A Grade Men 2^nd Semi Final

Curtin Uni Wesley fought it out against Kingsway in the 2^nd Semi Final to see who will advance straight to the Budget Car and Truck Rental A Grade Men Grand Final.

Curtin Uni Wesley burst out of the blocks, taking immediate control with 2 goals from Kade Stewart inside the opening two minutes. They followed up with a behind to extend their early lead, before Kingsway’s Jaimon Alone responded with a goal of their own to get on the board. Curtin Uni closed out the quarter with another behind, heading into the break on top after a strong opening.

Kingsway seized control in the 2^nd quarter, opening with a quick behind before following it up with Alone’s second goal to swing momentum their way. They then piled on 4 consecutive goals (Rowan Brookes, Jaxon McGowan, Matthew Jackson and Kyle Halligan) in just 7 minutes to break the game open. Curtin Uni Wesley’s Harry Crane managed to steady late with a goal, but Kingsway’s surge gave them a strong 37-20 lead heading into halftime.

Curtin Uni Wesley came out firing after halftime, slotting 2 back-to-back goals in quick succession via Jack Blechynden then Alexander Howson. Kingsway responded with a behind, but the game settled into a 10-minute lull as both sides battled for momentum. Kingsway eventually broke through with another behind, only for Curtin Uni Wesley to answer with one of their own before closing the quarter with an additional behind.

Curtin Uni Wesley continued their momentum in the last quarter, opening with Stewart’s third goal to take the lead. Kingsway managed to reply with a behind, but Curtin Uni Wesley pressed on, adding 2 consecutive goals, from Howson and Kyle Hamersley, to strengthen their advantage. Kingsway fought back with a goal from Halligan, yet Curtin Uni Wesley responded immediately with another pair of back-to-back goals via Zac McCarrey and Stewart (his fourth) to stay well in control. Kingsway added a 5^th behind late, before Curtin Uni rounded out the match with a behind to seal an impressive 18-point victory.

Curtin Uni Wesley advances straight to the grand final match and gets a rest week to prepare. Kingsway has one final shot to make it to the grand final in an epic battle against North Beach on the 13^th of September in the Preliminary Final.
