Budget Car and Truck Rental A Grade Men

North Beach 11.13 (79) defeated Fremantle C.B.C 7.3 (45)

The Tigers are in pole position to claim back-to-back premierships after they knocked off C.B.C in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.

North Beach led at every change in their 34-point victory which catapulted them to the top of the A Grade ladder.

C.B.C got within 10 points of the lead, but they couldn’t stay with the reigning premiers in the arresting encounter, the home side blowing their opposition away with three consecutive goals to lock in the four points.

In a big game which will likely shape the finals picture, midfielder Josh Deluca (30 disposals, 7 inside 50s, 135 ranking points) stepped up for the Tigers.

Former Essendon and Fremantle ruckman Zac Clarke won the hitout battle over C.B.C’s Nash Miller 32-21, while Corey Robinson (24 disposals, 6 inside 50s) fought hard for the visitors, who now have a tough ask ahead of them if they are to claim top spot back. 

Trinity Aquinas out-mudded Curtin Uni Wesley (Captured by At The Footy)

Blake Borrett is Trinity Aquinas’ king of the mud.

Trailing at three-quarter time, the Boomers forward kicked two of the final three goals of the game in persisting rain to sink the Tigers by 10 points. 

It was a loss that saw the home side fall down to fourth spot on the A Grade ladder in what was their second defeat in three weeks.

Borrett finished with four majors for the game, slipping past his opponent to take two critical marks at full forward in a desperate final term from his side.

Matthew Rodan (27 disposals) and Keeshawn Cook (24 disposals) fuelled the final quarter comeback for the visitors.

Out of the finals picture after their thrilling loss to Kingsway last week, the win is nonetheless an impressive one for TA’s as they look to finish their season on a high.

Kyle Hamersley (21 disposals, 6 tackles, 123 ranking points) was Curtin Uni Wesley’s best in their untimely loss.

Ocean Ridge 8.2 (50) defeated by University 8.7 (55)

University climbed up to third on the ladder with a narrow win over the Eagles, but it was not as convincing as they would have liked.

7th-placed Ridge led nearly the whole day, had more of the ball and won the clearances 41-27, but still could not outlast Uni.

It was a nervous final 15 minutes for the visitors after they hit the front courtesy of a streaming Angus Bowles major in what would prove to be the final goal of the contest.

Hugo Elliot and Troy Culloton controlled the ruck for University, combining for 64 hitouts, while Cyrus Upson also had 24 disposals for the victors.

Eagles midfielder Brodie Gray continued his incredible season with 43 disposals, 10 clearances and a staggering 185 ranking points for the home side.

Mt Lawley 7.10 (52) defeated Baldivis 3.3 (21)

The Hawks crushed their four game losing streak, shaking off the Brumbies by 32 points in a result which further heats up the A Grade relegation battle.

Jedd Edwards (13 clearances and 139 ranking points) and Nathan Eaton (27 disposals, 8 tackles and 10 marks) controlled the game for the Hawks, with forward Mitch Gupanis also kicking four goals in the important win.

Jake Howes had 27 disposals and 111 ranking points for Baldivis.

The win means 8th placed Mt Lawley are now equal on wins with Scarborough and Ocean Ridge, with a crunch game coming this week against the Sea Eagles in a match which will shape who stays in A Grade for 2027.

The loss means the Brumbies will return to B Grade following their promotion last season, now assured of relegation with two rounds remaining in the season.

Kingsway 13.9 (87) defeated Scarborough 8.3 (51)

The Roos continued their good form leading up to finals by easily accounting for the Sea Eagles by six goals.

Tahj Mibus had a day out for Kingsway, kicking five majors from 16 disposals.

Bryn Robilliard tried hard for Scarborough with 19 disposals and 10 tackles as they dropped their fourth straight game.

The 9th-placed Sea Eagles have their fate in their own hands, with games against relegation candidates Mt Lawley and Ocean Ridge to close out their season.

Curtin Uni Wesley 4.2 (26) defeated University 1.2 (8)

After two shock losses in the past fortnight which threatened to derail their season, the Tigers got their flag quest back on track with an 18-point win over fellow contenders Uni. 

After a scoreless opening quarter, Curtin Uni Wesley wrestled control of the game, as two final-quarter goals from Lily Minter and Emily Pickett assured them a much-needed win.

Minter’s 15 disposals and 82 ranking points topped Curtin Uni Wesley’s output, while Samantha Fieldler also bounced back with 39 hitouts for the Tigers after struggling to contain Wembley’s Parris Laurie in the ruck the week prior.

Cassie Davidson (24 disposals, 121 ranking points) was valiant for the Stormers in a loss that saw them slip to equal standing with 4th placed Wembley.

Hamersley Carine 4.5 (29) defeated Baldivis 0.0 (0)

The Hawks broke through for their second win of the season in stunning fashion in the wet, holding the visiting Brumbies scoreless at Beach Oval.

In a highly contested game played in slippery conditions between the two bottom sides, a final-quarter goal to Madison Rocca iced the game for the home side, as they finished with the four points for the first time in 14 games.

The win gives Hamersley Carine a slim chance of avoiding relegation, sitting just a game behind Baldivis and Melville with games against University and North Beach to come.

The loss was a disappointing one for Baldivis; a win which would have given them breathing space on the ladder from both the Hawks and 8th-placed Melville.

The Brumbies will face 7th-placed North Beach at home this week in a game which they will likely need to win to stay up in the PFL’s top women’s competition.

Wembley 1.8 (14) defeated North Fremantle 1.0 (6)

Continuing their strong recent run of form, Wembley edged out North Fremantle in the battle of the Magpies by 8 points at a very soggy Pat Goodridge Reserve.

In a match played in turbulent winter weather, both sides only managed to find the major opening once each, with both goals coming in the first half.

Wembley have now won eight of their past nine games, the only blemish coming against the rampant ladder-leading Trinity Aquinas as they head into finals steaming with momentum.

The loss sets up a crucial fortnight for North Fremantle, with games against top two sides Trinity Aquinas and Curtin Uni Wesley ahead of them to round out their home-and-away season.

Can anyone stop the Boomers?

Trinity Aquinas extended their three-game winning streak, easily accounting for North Beach by 48 points as their hold on top spot strengthens.

The home side came out of the blocks quickly, kicking the first three goals of the game inside the first 10 minutes to showcase why they are the current clear premiership favourites in A Grade.

Amy Trindade (22 disposals, 6 inside 50s) and Mikenna Schultz (18 disposals, 4 tackles) controlled the game for the Boomers, while Schleicher siblings, Jessica and Mia, continued their dominant seasons in front of goal, combining for five majors.

Once again led by Sienna Joubert (19 disposals, 100 ranking points), the Tigers became the first team in two weeks to put goals past the miserly TA’s defence, through Gabrielle Peacock and Lani Dunbar.

Melville 0.5 (5) defeated by Quinns District 3.4 (22)

The Bulls caught up a critical four points in their hunt to play finals, denying the in-form Rams a third-straight victory by holding them goalless in a seventeen-point victory.

The win puts Quinns District equal on points with 5th-placed North Fremantle as the home-and-away season concludes.

Melville dominated the hitouts 62-13 and clearances 36-18, but struggled to score against a determined Bulls outfit. 

Katelin Bertolami (18 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 goal) and Ebony Jackson (22 disposals, 6 tackles) led the way for Quinns as they capitalised on their opposition’s mistakes, scoring 100% of their match score from turnovers.

Isabella Strnadica (20 disposals and 11 tackles) was pick of the players for the Rams once again as they continue to push to avoid relegation in the season’s final few weeks.

Cockburn Lakes 8.5 (53) defeated by West Coast 12.12 (84)

The 5th-placed Tigers added a wrinkle into B Grade’s finals equation when they knocked off the Warriors away from home on Saturday afternoon.

It was a crucial victory for West Coast, with Kalamunda only sitting a game behind them in sixth heading into next week’s final round. 

Samuel Bevan kicked a bag of four for the Tigers in their 31-point win, in what could be an early elimination final preview.

Cockburn Lakes’ quest to claim a double chance ended as they dropped their first game at Anning Park since May.

The Warriors can sew up a home elimination final with a win over Melville in this week’s final round.

North Fremantle 8.11 (59) defeated Bullcreek Leeming 5.4 (34)

The Magpies played their role in setting up a mouth-watering final-round relegation rumble with their 25-point victory over the Bombers at Gil Fraser Reserve.

John Sgherza continued his sharp season in front of the big sticks for the home side, kicking four goals to bring his tally up to 50 for the season.

The Magpies are now certainties to host a qualifying final against Brentwood Booragon in two weeks.

In a game that would have been pencilled in their calendars for weeks now, Bullcreek Leeming will have their destiny in their own hands this week against 9th-placed Collegians.

It’s a simple equation for the Bombers and their opposition. Win, and avoid relegation; lose, and play C1 football next season.

Collegians 3.10 (28) defeated by Kalamunda 7.13 (55)

The Cougars kept their faint finals chance alive with a 27-point victory at David Cruickshank Reserve.

On a day where goalkicking was difficult, Tyler Mouritz led the way once more for the visitors, kicking three majors.

Kalamunda will need to defeat minor premier Whitford and cross their fingers Swan Athletic knock off West Coast in fifth to steal a finals spot.

Sitting in 9th place on 16 points, the Collies know they must beat Bullcreek Leeming on Saturday to guarantee their place in B Grade next season.

A victory would boost Collegians above the Bombers, on 18 points, into safety.

Whitford 20.14 (134) defeated Melville 2.2 (14)

Wrapping the minor premiership up in style, the Warriors were far too good for the last-placed Rams, winning by 120 points.

Ben Mountford kicked five goals for Whitford in their big win, while Bodhi Corner scored both of Melville’s majors.

The Warriors will now know a week’s rest is incoming after their match against Kalamunda on Saturday. 

They will then play a second semi-final against either North Fremantle or Brentwood Booragon at Macdonald Reserve on August 29th.

Wooden-spooners Melville’s disappointing season is nearly over, with just one more game to come before the 2025 C1 premiers will drop down a grade to defend their title next year.

Swan Athletic 4.7 (31) defeated by Brentwood Booragon 8.9 (57)

Ending their opposition’s season and sewing up third spot on the ladder, it was a successful day out in Swan Valley for the Bulldogs, as they were deserving 26-point victors over Swan Athletic.

Erick Bashemule led the way for the Brentwood Booragon forwards, his three goals doubling his season tally.

In a fixturing quirk, the Bulldogs take on 2nd-place North Fremantle at home on Saturday knowing they will face the Magpies again the week after away from home, with both sides locked into their spots on the ladder.

Now out of finals contention, Swan Athletic will be playing with the knowledge that they can potentially ruin fifth-placed West Coast’s season if results go against the Tigers.

It will be a nervous weekend for Mosman Park and Quinns District, with relegation still a prospect for both sides heading into the final round of the C1 home-and-away season.

Only four percentage points separate the two sides after the Bulls knocked off last-placed Jandakot at Atwell Reserve by 41 points, 11.7 (73) to 4.8 (32).

After a competitive first half, the Mozzies were overrun by a classy Wembley to the tune of 53 points. Josh Sukuroski bucked the weekend’s trend of low scores, booting five goals for the Magpies.

Mosman Park will enter this week against fifth-placed Thornlie knowing they must win by more than Quinns to guarantee their safety in C1.

Despite being guaranteed finals, the Lions limp into the matchup having lost their past four games, the latest against a clinical Wanneroo, who sewed up the minor premiership with a 57-point home victory, 10.17 (77) to 3.2 (20).

Thornlie are now certain to face Kwinana in an elimination final to kick off the finals after an accurate Knights held off a persistent Forrestdale by five points to leapfrog the Lions into fourth spot, winning 14.3 (87) to 12.10 (82) at William Skeet Oval.

Hamersley Carine assured the C1 top five had officially been locked in with their victory over a fast-finishing Cockburn Cobras away from home, winning a low scorer 6.2 (38) to 7.7 (49).

The win was built off a dominant second-quarter shutout as the Hawks kept the home side scoreless. 

Now guaranteed third place and a finals double chance, Hamersley Carine’s premiership aspirations will be tested in the next fortnight with games against the undefeated Wanneroo on Saturday and a guaranteed qualifying final against 2nd-placed Wembley at Pat Goodridge Reserve the following week.

The loss officially quashed the Cobras’ slim hopes of qualifying for this year’s finals.

Promoted to C1 this year alongside Quinns, they now have the opportunity to send the Bulls back down to C2 if they are to claim the four points in their clash on Saturday afternoon.
