Who to Watch: 2026 EGT Colts Grand Finals

Five EGT Colts premierships will be decided this Saturday, with some of the League’s best young talent taking centre stage across HIF Health Insurance Oval, Claremont Oval, Gosnells Oval and Wanneroo Showgrounds.

From League Fairest & Best winners and competition-leading goalkickers to emerging leaders and players who have produced standout seasons, there will be plenty to keep an eye on across the five deciders.

Here are some of the players to watch on Grand Final day.

Kalamunda will need to hand the barnstorming Swan Athletic their first loss of the season if they are to claim premiership honours.

The Cougars have had a whirlwind journey in this season’s HIF Health Insurance Finals Series, qualifying for Saturday morning’s decider from 5th spot.

With both of the club’s Colts teams playing off in Grand Finals, it has been a season to remember for Swan Athletic’s colts program.

The Drew Banfield Colts minor premiers are 19-0 for the season after being eliminated in last season’s preliminary final.

The game will feature several high vote getters in the League Fairest & Best count, with Swan Athletic’s Carlos Partington pulling 16 votes, just ahead of teammate Tyson Borg and Kalamunda’s Captain Tomas Mortensen.

Partington headlines a Swan Athletic side that has been strong across the board all year, with an impressive 20 players polling votes across the season. 

Ben Ottobrino is also one to watch after a strong campaign which included representing North in the Colts Clash.

For Kalamunda, Alessio Masella has proven to be more than just dangerous around goals.

The competition-leading goalkicker has booted 33 goals from 19 games and has been a livewire throughout the season.

Captain Thomas Mortensen has shown he can hit the scoreboard himself with 15 goals from 13 appearances while Isaac Paull adds another dangerous attacking option with 16 goals for the season.

Add crowd-favourite Alex Pasznicki to that mix and Kalamunda have plenty of players capable of influencing the contest around the ground.

With so many of competition’s vote earners lining up on opposite sides, alongside Masella’s firepower and Swan Athletic’s even contribution across the ground, there will be plenty to watch from the opening bounce.

EGT Ian Dargie Colts- Wanneroo v Mosman Park

Wanneroo path to the Grand Final: Finished 1st, defeated Mosman Park to qualify.

Undefeated with a percentage of 666, Wanneroo have cantered into this season’s Grand Final, finishing the home-and-away season three games clear on top.

The Roos will be hoping for their third consecutive Colts Grand Final to run to plan following defeats to Mt Lawley and West Coast in the past two seasons.

Finishing with an impressive 15-3 record, Mosman Park has been one of the only teams to trouble the minor premiers.

The 37-point margin of the second semi-final was the closest any side has gotten to touching the talented young Roos so far.

For Wanneroo, Bryce Barrett will be an important figure.

Barrett captained North during the Colts representative program and has demonstrated his leadership throughout the season, while Jae Forde is another to watch after a strong year.

Mosman Park have their own group capable of influencing the contest, with Marcel Michaud, Cameron Todorovic and Tadhg McGoldrick all enjoying impressive seasons.

With quality spread across both sides, the battle through the middle and which team can give its forwards the better opportunities could go a long way towards deciding the Ian Dargie premiership.

EGT Laurie Keene Colts- Kingsley v Swan View

The Laurie Keene Colts Grand Final brings together the top two players from the League Fairest & Best count, as well as the competition’s leading goalkicker.

Kingsley’s Joseph Franchina capped an outstanding season by topping the competition with 26 votes, narrowly ahead of Swan View’s William Lynch on 24.

Franchina will be joined by Denver Antulov and Sam Curtis, with all three featuring for North during the representative program.

Kingsley also have a dangerous target in Ben Kimberley, who has kicked 36 goals from 17 games.

Stung by last season’s grand final defeat to Piara Waters, Kingsley arrive back at Revo Fitness Stadium with redemption on their mind.

After a patchy start to the season that included a three-game losing run, the Cats have regrouped stunningly, going 8-1 since their bye in Round 11.

Winning a thriller over minor premier Gosnells in last week’s preliminary final to qualify, Swan View provides a worthy challenger to Kingsley.

Pipped by margins of two and ten points in their most recent encounters with the Cats, the Swans will enter Saturday’s clash knowing they aren’t far off repeating their Round 5 win over the Cats.

Alongside Fairest & Best runner-up Lynch, James Ford has produced a huge season in front of goal, kicking 53 majors from 19 games to lead the competition.

Ford also earned Best on Ground honours for North in the Colts Clash.

Travis Lee, with 30 goals from 18 appearances, provides another dangerous avenue to goal for Swan View.

With the top two Fairest & Best finishers lining up on opposite sides and the competition’s leading goalkicker also taking the field, there is plenty of individual talent capable of deciding the Laurie Keene Colts premiership.

EGT Brett Jones Colts- Warnbro v Scarborough

Scarborough path to the Grand Final: Finished 4th, defeated Wanneroo, High Wycombe and Roleystone to qualify.

The last time Warnbro and Scarborough faced off, nothing could separate the two teams.

Aside from a Round 5 defeat to Roleystone, it is the closest any team has come to beating the Swans, in what promises to be a tense and entertaining premiership battle.

The minor premiers got redemption on the Tigers in their second semi-final, beating them by 13 points to secure their spot in the Grand Final.

Warnbro’s Kaleb Bakewell enters the Grand Final after capping an outstanding season by winning the EGT Brett Jones Colts League Fairest & Best, making him an obvious player to watch at Gosnells Oval.

Diezel Walsh has been in equally exciting form, while Gabriel Gastev is another who loves finding the goals in big games.

Warnbro also boast proven scoring options in Ben Thompson, who has kicked 33 goals from 17 games, and Eric Smith, with 25 from 17.

Scarborough will arrive at Gosnells Oval fueled by the emotion of a three-week finals campaign where they have eliminated three contenders, including reigning premier Wanneroo.

Nearly 200cm Reuben Davey will provide a significant presence and shapes as an important player in the contest, while Ollie Wills has also enjoyed an excellent 2026 and has proven to be a very good user of the football.

EGT West Coast Colts- Mt Lawley v Swan Athletic

Having collectively bundled minor premier Yanchep out of the finals in straight sets, Mt Lawley and Swan Athletic are two deserving participants in this year’s EGT West Coast Colts Grand Final. 

Mt Lawley’s win over the Redhawks was their tenth straight and included two victories over their Grand Final opponents, meaning they will motor in with momentum.

Mt Lawley’s Aidan Verlinden capped an outstanding home-and-away season by leading the two Grand Final teams in the League Fairest & Best count with 15 votes, making him an obvious player to watch on Grand Final day.

The Hawks will also look to co-captains Marcus Petrolo and Taig Mulvey, who led the side in their Second Semi Final victory to secure a place in the decider.

But they will face a Swan Athletic team that already knows how to win in September, with the Swans looking to claim back-to-back flags in the West Coast Colts competition on Saturday.

In their preliminary final, the reigning premiers got off to a fast start against 2025 Grand Final opposition Yanchep and held on to claim a 16-point win.

Swan Athletic have plenty of quality in their lineup, with Hamish McLennan and Lachlan Wight both finishing the Fairest & Best count with 10 votes apiece.

Look for plenty of ball use and forward momentum from McLennan and Wight, who wear No.1 and No. 11 respectively and have been among Swan Athletic’s standouts throughout 2026.

There will definitely be plenty of quality around the footy at Wanneroo Showgrounds.
